European Heritage Days

Cultural

The Heritage Days are a key annual event at the end of the summer, giving the people of Saint-Rémois and visitors the chance to discover or rediscover the monuments and places that have played an important role in the town's history.

On the programme:

- SPECIAL EVENTS:
• Open house and visit to the Maison du Parc, workshops to discover the natural and cultural heritage of the Alpilles from 10am to 1pm and from 2pm to 5pm.

• Photo exhibition ‘Le train à Saint-Rémy’, Place de la Mairie.
Old photos from the F. George collection and previously unpublished photos from the Olivier collection.

• Photo exhibition ‘Means of transport in days gone by’, Salle des pas perdus - Mairie.
Old and unpublished photos.

• Discovering the Canal des Alpines Septentrionales.
Organised by L'association des Amis du Canal des Alpines (LACA), on Sunday at 2.30pm. Meet at the Glanum college car park for an easy 6km walk, including a visit to the Domaine de Lagoy.

• Free guided tour of the old town, Saturday 21st at 9.30am, organised by the Alpilles en Provence Tourist Office. Duration 1h30, departure in front of the Tourist Office. Reservations required by telephone with the tourist office.

• History and Nature Tours - The mysterious towers of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and the Saint-Jean Flour Mill, Saturday 3pm to 4pm
and Sunday 11am to 12pm.
(rdv near the Jardin des Alpilles)

• Peiroou dam and Glanum aqueduct.
The visit will take place on Sunday from 10am to 12pm.
hiking boots and a bottle of water recommended. Meeting point at Les Antiques next to the information board.

• Conference on ‘The use of horses in everyday life in Saint-Rémy’, on Saturday at 10.30 am at the Bibliothèque Joseph-Roumanille.

• Exceptional opening of the reserves of the Musée des Alpilles and the Centre des Monuments Nationaux. Much more than a storage
than a storage area, it's a place where thousands of objects from the collections are preserved and studied. Visits by prior arrangement on Saturday and Sunday at 10am and 11am.

• Discover the Via Domitia, in the footsteps of Ancient Rome.
Guided tour by volunteers from the Saint-Rémy-de-Provence Patrimoines et Perspectives association.
Saturday at 3pm (3-hour walk) - Meet in front of the triumphal arch on the Plateau des Antiques.
Walking shoes and bottle of water recommended. Tour subject to weather conditions.

• Escape game ‘Mistral au pays de Lovecraft’ at the Bibliothèque Joseph-Roumanille.

• Hôtel Estrine - Museum opening times: 10am-6pm

2pm: Guided tour of the Estrine Museum (1 hour)
4pm: Thematic tour ‘A work under the magnifying glass’: Reliquary, Marie-Pierre Thiébaut (30 min)

2pm: Guided tour of the Marie-Pierre Thiébaut exhibition (1 hour)
4pm: Thematic guided tour: Discover the work of Nelly Maurel Je hais les voyages et les explorateurs (30 min)

• Hôtel Mistral de Mondragon - Museum des Alpilles.
Open from 10 am to 6 pm - free.

• Chapelle Saint-Roch - Exhibition of ornaments and archives
of the chapel. Sunday, 2pm to 7pm.
A book has been published to mark the 300th anniversary of the chapel.

• Saint-Paul-de-Mausole - Exhibition by the Valetudo art therapy association on the theme: ‘Heritage of itineraries, networks and
connections’.
Visits on Saturday and Sunday from 10.15am to 5.30pm on the theme of ‘Heritage routes, networks and connections’.

• Chapelle Jean-de-Renaud - Visits on Sunday from 3pm to 5pm
by Jean-Marie Chalançon.

- EXCEPTIONAL OPENINGS :
• Ehpad public Marie-Gasquet - Old hospital de Saint-Rémy-de-Provence.
Jazz concert on Saturday at 2pm: Charlie Olympe trio.

• Marbrerie Anastay - Open on Saturdays from 9.30am to 5.30pm, with 4 guided tours at : 10am, 11.30am, 2.30pm and 4pm.

• Château de Lagoy - Private property open by special arrangement.
Guided tour of the chapel by Remi Venture or Alexandra Roche-Tramier, and tours of the courtyard and garden: Saturday and Sunday from 3pm to 6pm.

• Notre-Dame-de-Pitié - Exhibition of paintings by Christian Réale and sculptures by Philippe Lonzi. Open 10am-12.30pm and 2.30pm-7pm.

• Tour du Cardinal - Guided tours by Thomas Erpicum
Sundays from 2pm to 5pm. (One tour per hour).

• Jewish Cemetery - Open: Saturdays from 10am to 12pm, guided tours by Sophie Piot, historian and architectural heritage consultant.
Sundays from 10.30am to 12pm, guided tours by Odile Chouraqui and Elio Lussato, members of the Association des Amis de la Synagogue de Cavaillon.
- from 3pm to 4pm, guided tours by Viviane Picard and Michel Gaspard, members of the Historical and Archaeological Society.

• Domaine de l'abbaye Sainte-Marie de Pierredon - Visits on Saturday and Sunday from 3pm to 5pm. Visit the chapel only.
Jazz concert on Saturday at 5pm: Dealers of Swing trio.
